Sleep Problems & Insomnia Guide

Make sure that there isn’t anything too deep in your inability to sleepNow lets go through the steps of what you should do if you cant sleep, and again, from a point of view I can relate to. First of all you have to go to the doctor if you feel that the lack of sleep is getting to bad [and don’t worry about sounding silly – the doctor can send you home if you feel fine, but cant treat you if you don’t even show up]. The doctor, if he is a good one, will run some tests in order to make sure that there isn’t anything too deep in your inability to sleep, and when he cant find anything, he will prescribe medication to help with your sleep problems.
Now if the medication has slight side affects, don’t worry about them.Now as someone who did at some point go to the doctor I can tell you that the most important thing I ever learned was to follow the doctors orders to a t. I have many a stories about listening to the doc, and you should listen to someone who knows, even if it isn’t directly related to sleep. Now if the medication has some side affects, don’t worry about them. I cant let you know fully how many times I have had some sort of badness come out of pills I just cant live without, but the effects are always temporary, so live with the short term loss in order to enjoy the long term gain.
Now if the fact that you can sleep is in fact a medical conditionThen the doctor might recommend exercise or a healthier diet. The fact is that both of these have been linked to sleep disorders. But if you do end up with the exercise route, let me just recommend that you don’t do it right before bed. Exercise increases adrenaline and as such the energy levels are higher than normal and sleep is hard if not impossible. So if your doing the healthy thing, do it before sleep, and even much before sleep if you can. This way you wont have to live with another night in which the fact that you cant sleep is the only thing you can think about.
Food really influences the body and the spirit so eat your vegetablesOh, and just because I mentioned it and I want to tie all the corners, than you should just understand that a healthy diet is critical. your carbs, your fruits and your whatever's. just make sure you do it right. Some other laymen tips that have found basis in studies worldwide are avoid alcohol and caffeine. Especially during the night, even if you must during the day. The fact is that wine reduces REM and this is a type of sleep you desperately need, so make sure you adhere to this.
If you ever want to put the 'I cant sleep' statement back on the shelfthen adhere to this and do it willingly. Other ways to relax the mind is perhaps listening to music, or leaving the television on. But when I do this I make sure to keep the sound low, you might want to do the same. Other ways to relax is possibly reading a good book, but the decision is up to you, so make whatever decision you need to, just remember that you cant sleep, and you need any sleep tip you can find.
